Reading to the birds

Happy weekend :-)
Hope you have been enjoying it so far. I can't complain here, had some time to finish this card plus I finally cleaned the coils on the fridge, which was long overdue.

The other day I had some time to read a tutorial on merging digistamps and actually had time to try it too. Many thanks to Debbie from Debbie P's Place for sharing it!!

I decided to use two digistamps from MelJen's designs. Doesn't it look like this little mouse is reading the birds a story? So cute! Of course I decided not to overlap anything at this point to make it easier for me so I didn't have to erase anything on this one.

It's been colored using Derwent coloursoft pencils and baby oil. I used couture 80lb card stock which I got from "I heart papers". I have found out that this paper works beautifully with these pencils, I have been kind of disappointed in the results when using Georgia pacific card stock, so I won't be using it for coloring anymore.

Designer Paper is from my stash and then I used some bashful blue and old olive card stock. Embellished with some glitter, a tiny punched out flower and tiny pearl. Then I did some sewing with my Janome Mini. Sentiment is from a retired Stampin Up set.

I used the sketch from Everybody Art Challenge,
I am also entering it to
Thank you so much for visiting me today. Hope you liked the card!

Have a GREAT day,
Ellie.

DTC# 69 - Dazzle me

Happy Tuesday!

It's time for another challenge over at the Digital Tuesday Challenge blog. Our challenge theme, chosen by the lovely Maria, is

"Dazzle me"

We would love to see your glittery, sparkly or blingy creations!
You may use any company image as long as it's digital!

I decided to use a cute freebie by Meljen's Designs. I just love the big smile on this mouse's face!

Image has been coloured using Derwent coloursoft pencils blended with baby oil. I so much enjoy coloring with these pencils because I don't have to worry about ink bleeding over the lines anymore. And I just love the results. Who knows, I might be selling my copics soon unless hubby wants to keep them for his artwork.

Papers are from DCWV and stampin up. It's hard to see but the flowers on the designer paper are sparkly in real life. I embellished with some ribbon, rhinestones, glitter for the flower centers, and used a cuttlebug die for the flourish and some punches for my flower and scallops.

As always we have another great sponsor, Digital Delights is back this week and the winner gets a $10 gift certificate to their store. Lots of cuties to choose!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today, hope you'll find some time to play along!

Have a great day!
Ellie.

Penny Black Poppies

Happy Monday!

Hope you've had a good start of the week. Mine's been great so far, spent most of the morning outside, then decided to make this simple card while the kids were drawing.

I already colored the image a few days ago using my Derwent coloursoft pencils and gamsol. The hedgie's face was colored with copic markers.

I kept this card very simple, I used a nestabilities labels 8 shape to cut out the sentiment. The butterfly was made with a martha stewart punch. It's pumpkin pie card stock and I sponged the edges with white craft ink. Adhered it with a tiny glue dot and added a couple of tiny pearls to the body. Stickles glitter was added to all of the butterflies and the flower centers.

My card fits the challenges at
That's it for today. Hope you liked my card. Be sure to check back tomorrow for a brand new digital tuesday challenge.

Have a great day,
Ellie.

Birthday celebrations

I completed this card on monday, I think, but just now had time to finally take a picture of it and post it. I have been so busy redecorating the house, sorting through lots and lots of stuff to take to the thrift store... it just never seems to end.

So here is my card, it uses a stamp from Whipper Snapper. What a fun stamp to color!!
I used my new derwent coloursoft pencils blended with gamsol. I actually ended up buying the whole set of 72 pencils because I love them soooo much and still had some birthday money left.

The body was actually stamped twice and popped up with dimensionals but it is hard to see in the picture. The nose and cookies are also popped up with dimensionals. Papers are brand new from My minds eye. Sentiment is from Stampin Up. I added a touch of glitter to the cookies, cherry and heart on the apron. Card base and mat is stampin up's kraft card stock.

I am off to do some more decluttering, and then hopefully I'll find some time later to create something.

Have a great day,
Ellie.

DTC #68 - Happy Birthday

Happy Tuesday everyone!!
This week the challenge at Digital Tuesday, chosen by the lovely Lorraine, is

Happy Birthday

That is easy enough, right, so hopefully you'll all join in this week for a chance at a great prize.

For my card I used an image from Mo Manning. I was lucky enough this time to get it as a freebie by following her facebook page. It is no longer a freebie, but can be purchased at her store.

I decided to go with a pink and brown theme with a touch of mellow moss this week, and I did some distressing.

I've colored the image using copic markers. I colored it before I got my new derwent coloursoft pencils, can't wait to color it again using my new pencils.

Papers are from K&Company and stampin up. I did some machine stitching and distressed the edges. I embellished with some paper flowers and pearls, some stickles glitter and ribbon.

I am also entering my card to this week's stamp something challenge (theme: something digital)

If you have some time why not join us this week. You may combine as many challenges as you like, as long as it is a new creation and don't forget to use a digi.

We have a brand new sponsor too, Delicious doodles , their digis are so very cute! And of course there will be a prize to win!

That's it from me for today, thanks so much for stopping by my blog today.

Have a great day,

A penny black cutie

Can you believe I managed to get two cards done and posted within 2 days?? It's been sooo long since that happened.

I've been playing some more with my new derwent coloursoft pencils, this time I used one of my old Penny Black stamps (Bee happy). I just cannot tell you how much I love these pencils and I now I want to get ALL of them.

I've used the sketch from "The sweet stop" challenge blog, but flipped it.
Papers are from Stampin up. I did some machine stitching with my janome mini on this card.

Since I didn't have any rust colored ribbon, I ended up running a piece of card stock through my paper crimper (which I haven't used for soooo long) to get a little bit of texture. Flowers and scallop border were done using Martha stewart punches, the oval is done with a SU punch. I've added tiny sticky pearls to the flower centers and some stickles glitter to the bee's wings and flower centers on the Designer Paper.

My card also fits these challenges:
Thanks so much for visiting me today. Hope you liked the card. I already have another image colored, so hopefully I'll be able to be back with another card very soon!

Have a great day,

A flower for you

This week was my birthday and I treated myself to some new goodies to play with! I just love being able to choose some of my own birthday presents!!

One of the things I got is a new "popcorn the bear" stamp set. So so cute! I also have been wanting to try the Derwent coloursoft pencils ever since I "met" Anne-Marije. Her coloring is just amazing. You have to check it out!

I didn't really need another form of coloring since I own a lot of copics and prismacolor pencils (and watercolor pencils and pastels). These are very similar to prismacolor pencils but I think their lead is a lot softer (IMO) which made it so easy to blend with gamsol. And they are so much easier to work with (for me) than copics. I only got the pack of 24 pencils but will be ordering more of them individually.

So here is my card using Popcorn the bear colored with Derwent coloursoft pencils.

I kept it pretty simple, just used a pretty paper from Bo Bunny (I think), some stickles glitter and a ribbon for embellishing. Card base is Kraft card stock from stampin up.

Thanks so much for visiting me today, hope you liked my card!!

Have a great day,

DTC #67 - A sketch challenge

Happy Tuesday everyone and thanks for visiting my blog today!

Today's challenge over at Digital Tuesday, chosen by the lovely Lora, is a sketch. And what a fun sketch to work with!!

I used an image from Phindy's Place. I just love the cuteness of it.
It's been colored using copics and a white prismacolor pencil for highlights.

Designer Paper is from Stampin Up (retired).
The sentiment is also from a retired stampin up set. I embellished with some paper flowers, flourishes and leaves, sticky pearls and a touch of glitter here and there.

My card also fits a couple other challenges:
Phindy's Place challenge (theme: embossing)
Stamp Something (theme: recipe -1 DP, 1 ribbon, 1 image)
Totally papercrafts (theme: swirls and pearls)

We have a brand new sponsor this week - Bella Studio digital designs. Be sure to check them out, their images are so cute!! And one lucky winner gets to choose 3 digis from them. Hopefully you'll get a chance to play!! All you have to do is make a card using the sketch provided and of course don't forget to use a digi.

DTC #66 - A color combo

Another week has gone by so quickly and here we are again with another fun digital tuesday challenge. Our hostess this week is the lovely Kristine and she has chosen a color combo as our challenge.

RED WHITE and BLUE

You can make anything you like - a card, scrapbook page, altered item, bag etc. It doesn't have to be patriotic. Anything works as long as there is a digi somewhere on your creation. I think these colors work GREAT for masculine cards.

My card uses an image that my husband drew, "at sea", it's available for $2 in my etsy store.

It's been colored using copic markers. Designer Papers are from my stash . I did a little bit of distressing and tearing on this card. The sentiment is from Stampin Up.

Our sponsor this week is My Grafico, they are giving away one of their many fun sets that the winner gets to choose and 30% off an order to one lucky winner. Hope you'll all play for a chance to win!

Be sure to check out the rest of the Design Team's gorgeous cards too!
